Israelis kill 28 Gaza protesters ahead of United States embassy opening in Jerusalem

Activists in Jordan and Turkey also stormed the streets on Friday, protesting the U.S. embassy move that is scheduled to take place May 14, the anniversary of the creation of the Israeli state, also widely known as the Nakba (Catastrophe) across the Arab world.

Since weekly border marches began in late March, 85 Palestinian protesters have been killed and more than 2,500 wounded by Israeli army fire.

President Donald Trump says the US remains "fully committed" to pursuing a Mideast peace deal as it opens its controversial new embassy in Jerusalem.

Hamas has said that they expect tens of thousands of people will join Monday's march of protests in Gaza.

It said troops shot and killed three Palestinians trying to plant a bomb.

Israel's military says it will stop any border breach.

Later on Monday, Israeli forces fired from tanks, sending protesters fleeing to take cover.

Israel has warned Gaza residents they will be risking their lives if they approach the border during a planned mass protest.

"It seems to me that the Palestinians have decided that the U.S. is no longer an honest broker in the MidEast peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis", he said, adding that it will likely lead to further Palestinian rage and resistance.

According to Jerusalem Post, Israeli demonstrators marched around Jerusalem's streets Saturday night, denouncing the Flag March, planned for Monday, and the USA embassy move.

Top US officials, including Deputy Secretary, John Sullivan Secretary of Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, President Donald Trump's daughter and her husband, are attending Monday's event.

The Department of State announced that the U.S. Embassy to Israel in Jerusalem will be dedicated on Monday, May 14, 2018.

Tensions are extremely high as Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are encouraged to protest against the embassy move, which comes just before their Nakba Day, the "day of the catastrophe" which commemorates the establishment of the Israeli State in 1948.

Gaza's health ministry said 28 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli snipers who are positioned along the fence, facing the protesters.

A majority of Gaza's two million people are descendants of refugees, and the protests have been billed as the "Great March of Return".

"We will stay peaceful with our hands like this", he said, lifting them to the sky.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called it a "slap in the face" and said the United States can no longer be regarded as an honest broker in any peace talks with Israel.

"A great day for Israel", the United States president, who stoked Arab anger by recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December, said in a tweet.

In an editorial, the Dubai-based Gulf News said: "This is a day when the United States and the administration of President Donald Trump should hang its head in shame".

"For 70 years, Jerusalem has been awaiting worldwide recognition, until President Donald Trump, in a courageous move, recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel".

The modern, sleekly designed building is about a mile from the east Jerusalem Palestinian neighbourhood of Jabel Mukaber, home to several perpetrators of militant attacks - including one in 2015 that killed two Israelis and a US-Israeli dual national. Paraguay is to follow suit later this month.

It would not have been so bad if Trump stressed he was specifying West Jerusalem as Israel's capital, which would have left open the possibility that East Jerusalem might still in future be that of the Palestinians.
