Trump says he will pardon conservative firebrand Dinesh D'Souza

Trump said she was "unfairly treated" and "used to be my biggest fan in the world". The perpetual Clinton & Obama foe had earlier been indicted for illegally using straw donors to make financial contributions to New York Republican senate candidate Wendy Long.

In 2012, his movie "2016: Obama's America's" which was based on his anti-Obama book had become the second-highest-grossing political documentary film produced in the US.

Twitter had a torrent of emotions in response to the latest pardon, in which a man convicted of election fraud was pardoned by a president who constantly touts the unfounded claim such fraud is an urgent epidemic. He has also granted one commutation of sentence.

US President Donald Trump today said that he will grant full pardon to conservative commentator Dinesh D'souza. "I was married to Dinesh D'Souza for more than 20 years and together with him for over 26 years".

D'Souza pleaded guilty in 2014 over donating $20,000 to NY politician Wendy Long.

The Justice Department that would imprison Mr. D'Souza for two years for giving unfair advantage to a friend's political campaign declined to prosecute members of the New Black Panther Party for threatening white voters with nightsticks at a Philadelphia polling place in 2008.

Though Trump said no one had asked him to pardon D'Souza, a source familiar with how things unfolded told CNN that Sen.

@realDonaldTrump Dinesh was the subject of a political prosecution, brazenly targeted by the Obama administration bc of his political views.

The White House said in a statement that the president believed D'Souza was the "victim of selective prosecution for violations of campaign finance laws" and that he "accepted responsibility for his actions". Eight months of the first year was to be served in a community confinement center.

D'Souza is a contentious figure who once accused then-President Barack Obama of adopting "the cause of anti-colonialism" from his Kenyan father in a 2010 Forbes magazine cover story when Obama was in office.

Last August, Trump pardoned Arpaio less than a month after his conviction for criminal contempt in a case involving racial profiling of Hispanics.

At issue is Article 40 of the state's Criminal Procedure Law, which, aside from certain exceptions, prevents state prosecution of crimes for which an individual has pleaded guilty or faced jury trial in any other jurisdiction, including federal court.
