WB puts ANOTHER Joker movie into pre-production, this time with Jared Leto

"I'm a little confused too, but yeah, there are a couple of things happening in the DC world", Leto previously told Variety about the plans for a separate Joker film.

Warner Bros. bosses are also working on the character's origin tale, which will be directed by The Hangover's Todd Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix reportedly in the running to star in the project.

Leto's Joker, as fans noted, was nearly a glorified cameo in "Suicide Squad".

According to a report by Variety, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are firmly moving forward on a Jared Leto-starring Joker standalone movie.

The announcement follows previous confirmations of further feature films based around characters from the Batman universe, with Margot Robbie reportedly set to reprise the role of Harley Quinn in a standalone feature.

All of this Joker news is starting to get as confusing as Matt Reeves' The Batman.

It's now unknown when this particular Joker film starring Leto would go into production, as the project has yet to hire a writer to pen the script.

Are you excited to see more of Jared Leto's Joker in his own movie? But one thing is for certain: two Joker movies are now being lined up. Much like how Warner Bros. stressed a year ago that that film did not mean Leto was out as the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCU, it would seem Phillips' film isn't off the table either. Yet.

Plot details are now unknown, but the studio's idea is to expand on the world created by "Suicide Squad" and tie into future installments of that property. One movie will be the origin story, while Jared Leto's will focus on the partly established character that we saw glimpses of during Suicide Squad.
