May says Brexit plan delivers 'people's vote'

Johnson, one of the best-known and most flamboyant members of the government, quit just hours after the resignation late Sunday of Brexit Secretary David Davis, the government's top Brexit official.

In his resignation letter, Johnson slammed May's proposal for maintaining trade ties with the European Union, which many are calling a "semi-Brexit", and claimed that Britain was headed toward "the status of a colony".

It's a stumbling block that has been called out by opponents of the plan including Boris Johnson, who resigned as United Kingdom foreign secretary on Monday in protest.

However, she has support from moderates and there has been no formal challenge to her leadership so far.

Merkel welcomed the fact that Britain had formulated a position to take into stalled negotiations with the EU.

She said: "The UK and the USA already have a uniquely close partnership in the fight for democracy and global security and we share a global outlook across the vast majority of foreign policy issues". "It s a good thing that we have proposals on the table".

Mike Hill made the comments following the resignations from Theresa May's cabinet. Simply, if the Prime Minister can not unite her Cabinet and convince them over the Brexit negotiations, she has no chance of getting the European Union to agree to the terms.

While the president is on his military visit and holding talks with the prime minister at Chequers, Melania will be taken by the PM's husband Philip on a visit in London to meet veterans and then schoolchildren. "I think they agree with me on immigration".

On Monday night, while addressing her backbenchers, May said without their support, Corbyn could run the country as prime minister. Still, her long-term future is questionable, says Gaby Hinsliff in the Guardian.

The ambassador said that while a meeting was not now on Mr Trump's itinerary "the president makes his own schedule", the day after the American leader said he may make time to meet his "friend" the former foreign secretary.

He was enthusiastic about Johnson, calling him "a friend of mine".

She went on: "Mr President, Sir Winston Churchill once said that "to have the United States at our side was, to me, the greatest joy".

Johnson quit with a resignation letter accusing May of flying "white flags" of surrender in negotiations with the EU.

"Unfortunately his contribution to the development of bilateral ties with Russian Federation was rather modest, to put it mildly", President Vladimir Putin s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

The decision to hastily source Jeremy Hunt from his position as Health Secretary is likely to leave behind a swathe of problems for the NHS that his successor, Matt Hancock, may struggle to rectify.

European Council President Donald Tusk said Monday that it is unfortunate that the whole "idea of Brexit has not left together with David Davis".

Less than nine months remain until Britain reduces the EU's membership on March 29, 2019.

He says "I like Theresa May, I think she's a good prime minister".

Some Brexit-supporting lawmakers are angry at the proposals, saying they will keep Britain tethered to the bloc and unable to change its rules to strike new trade deals around the world.

But Mr Trump appeared to link Brexit to the current trade dispute between the U.S. and European Union over steel and aluminium.
