Michael Jordan responds to Donald Trump tweet

Donald Trump has sparked uproar online after taking aim at basketball superstar LeBron James, with many social media users calling the United States president "racist" and a "bully". "He's kind of used sport to divide us, and that's something I can't relate to". But when Trump finally caught up with the conversation days later, he engaged in a late-night Twitter rant.

James had criticized Trump over his attacks on athletes in a CNN interview Monday that re-aired Friday, seemingly prompting the president's latest Twitter outburst. The sports commentator Bill Simmons tweeted: "LeBron is a smart dude (and one of the most thoughtful athletes we have) - this is a bullshit tweet and feels more than a little racist". "Not shocked it happened during a week where LeBron literally opened a school for at-risk kids". He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do.

"It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation", Stephanie Grisham said in an emailed statement.

"In response, a spokeswoman for Melania Trump said that the first lady watches 'any channel she wants, '" the Hill reported.

During the interview, James also discussed a new school he has opened for underprivileged children in his home town in OH, which offers free meals and bikes to students, as well as job placement assistance for parents and an on-site food bank.

Lemon responded on Saturday morning and he wasn't afraid to throw some serious shade. Laker fans who spoke with Eyewitness News also felt the same way, often mentioning the school James opened and how he's impacted those kids' lives. "#BeBest", Lemon tweeted, using the hashtag of her youth wellbeing awareness campaign, which advocates against cyberbullying.

The James-Trump feud has been brewing for months.

"We need more like him in this world", she added. However, James did touch on politics, expressing disappointment with Trump's relationship to sports teams.

"Keep doing you @KingJames!". Keep in mind, the Warriors knocked off James' Cleveland Cavaliers in the process. The president finished his tweet by adding, "I like Mike", in an apparent reference to former National Basketball Association great, Michael Jordan. "I like Mike!" -the 45 president garnered over 39 thousand re-tweets as well as a response from his preferred player Michael Jordan; who told NBC News, "I support L.J., he's doing an awesome job for his community". Shut your damn mouth! "I know the streets that they walk".

Trump has long denounced the media - CNN in particular - and rarely lets a slight go unnoticed.
