West Ham sign Arsenal's Lucas Perez and Fiorentina's Carlos Sanchez

Asked by a fan whether Sanchez is signing, he responded: "Yes at this point".

The first images of the new signing were seen in Wilshere's Instagram story, where he snapped a shot of Perez in the Hammer's training kit with a huge smile on his face.

Meanwhile, the Gunners will be looking to be one of the main contenders for a top-four finish next season as they bid to try and break back into the Champions League spots for next term.

He has Premier League experience having spent a two-year spell at Aston Villa, leaving in 2016.

His lack of game time under former manager Arsene Wenger saw him make the loan move back to Deportivo, where he scored eight league goals in 35 matches.

The striker finally leaves the North Londoners despite many statements by his agent saying that the Spanish global wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium but it is likely that Lucas Perez made a decision to leave the club because he was afraid that he won't get enough playing time this season under Unai Emery.

Perez said: "I'm very happy to be here at such an historic club".

The 29-year-old is West Ham's seventh signing of the close season.

New Irons boss Manuel Pellegrini has now brought in nine players during the summer window, spending more than £100million, as he looks to reshape a squad which battled for survival during most of the previous campaign under David Moyes.

"He is a very experienced player that Manuel and I both know well from Spain", said Husillos.

Director of football Mario Husillos added: "We welcome Lucas to West Ham United".
