Elon Musk smokes weed on the Joe Rogan Experience

News of the resignation of Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton came Friday, according to a securities filing.

His latest exploit to raise eyebrows and fuel mocking internet memes was a meandering two-hour, live-streamed interview on YouTube with comedian Joe Rogan in which Musk wore a T-shirt with the slogan "Occupy Mars", smoked marijuana, wielded a samurai sword and a flamethrower, mused on the end of the world and the future of artificial intelligence and said he wondered as a child if he was insane because of his "never-ending explosion" of ideas.

Musk admitted on "The Joe Rogan Experience" that running a company like Tesla is intense and tricky, saying, "It's very hard to keep a vehicle company alive".

Elon Musk announced a major shakeup in Tesla's executive ranks on Friday, just hours after a freakish interview left some investors rattled.

Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

"I'm not saying it's going to be successful", Musk said, though he noted it has already dug a mile-long tunnel under the streets of Los Angeles.

The departures came after CEO Elon Musk gave a wide-ranging, almost three-hour interview to podcast host Joe Rogan and addressed topics ranging from his job at Tesla to the the end of the world.

Elon Musk has added another bit of freakish behaviour to the list by smoking a joint during a live interview. "As a result, this caused me to reconsider my future", Morton said in the filing.

Morton joined Tesla on August 6, one day before Musk's infamous tweet claiming that he had "funding secured" to take Tesla private. But Musk also said this isn't really a priority, and he also dismissed the concept of a flying auto as impractical. "Earth is a giant ball of lava with a thin crust on the top, which we think of as, like, the surface" sounds like something I just made up to poke fun, but was actually said by the man running a $48 billion enterprise deemed by many to be seriously undervalued.

"We have been calling for a co-CEO or COO to assist to codifying the leadership structure and in so doing, the culture at Tesla", said James Albertine, analyst at brokerage Consumer Edge, speaking before the promotions were announced.

The stock for Tesla, where Musk is CEO, took a dive Friday following the news of Musk's public use of marijuana making the rounds, along with other bad news for Tesla.

Prominent short-seller Andrew Left has sued Tesla and Musk, saying in his proposed class-action complaint on Thursday that Musk's issuance of materially false and misleading information related to his abandoned plan harmed both short-sellers and those hoping the stock would rise. Curiously, all this comes at a time when the company is oh-so-close to churning out profitable quarters.

These give holders the option to convert them to Tesla stock at $360 per share on March 1, Business Insider's Graham Rapier reported. Guillen, an eight-year Tesla veteran, helped build the assembly line in a tent that was added this year to bolster production of the company's crucially important Model 3 after the main assembly line was crippled by overuse of robots.
