Google Inbox is being discontinued

Gmail Offline has been with us for a long time. After four years of service, many - although not all - of Inbox's features have been incorporated into Gmail, and Google now feels it is time to concentrate on a single email tool. The highlights include AI that can detect emails that you might want to prioritize; Smart Replies, which use more AI to generate quick phrases to use in response to particular emails; an offline mode; a sidebar with shortcuts to Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks; and the automated detection of a type malicious email message known as "phishing", which attempts to trick you into giving away passwords, credit card info, and other sensitive personal data. The good news is, you have until March 2019 before you have to switch to Gmail or another app.

In addition to the transition guide, Google also recently promoted five features in the new Gmail to entice Inbox fans.

Inbox began as an email experiment almost four years ago for Google. After that, you're free to delete the Gmail Offline Chrome app and then continue forward using only Gmail for web. "As a result, we're planning to focus exclusively on Gmail and say goodbye to "Inbox" at the end of March 2019", Matthew Izatt, Product Manager at Gmail, wrote in a blog post late on Wednesday.

One Inbox by Gmail feature that still hasn't made its way over to the standard Gmail service is the email bundling. Like you can use Stars, custom labels, or use Gmail search if you used Pins in Inbox. This merging of features led to uncertainty about the future of Inbox, and ultimately, to its demise.

The service - which came in the form of iOS and Android apps and its own website - funneled mails from your Gmail account to a different, slightly more gesture-driven interface with its own unique set of options. However, there is a pretty big following for Inbox, so Google may face some backlash here. And I have six months to mull this over. But. Instead, Inbox was meant to provide Google with an active platform that would allow them to test new features in real-time.
