'You'll need it': Huawei hands out power banks to queuing iPhone fans

As tradition has followed, Apple fans in Singapore queued up outside Apple stores overnight in sheer anticipation of buying the new iPhone XS or XS Max.

Apple's Australian stores were the first to open globally due to time differences, with a small crowd of mainly tech reviewers and global entrepreneurs queuing in Sydney to get in early. Apple iPhone XS Max is also available in the same storage variants. Apple CEO Tim Cook lauded the iPhone X as the company's "best-seller".

'I always like to get a new bit of tech and flash it around the office a little bit'.

Will you be queueing up for the new iPhone?

The iPhone XS Max is said to have a larger cell at 3,174mAh, which is one of the largest we've ever seen on an iPhone product.

In the U.S., the iPhone Xs 64GB retails for $999 - which is around R14,400 at today's currency rates.

Huawei has taken the act of mocking the newly launched iPhones to the next level in seemingly amusing way. While some might indeed not be interested in mAh ratings, it is good to know the capacity. The bigger iPhone XS MAX will be available at a starting price of Rs 100,900. Specifically, the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max come with 2658mAh and 3174mAh battery respectively which are certainly much smaller than Huawei P20 Pro's 4000mAh battery.

Prices for the cheaper iPhone XR, expected in South Africa on October 26, have not yet been released.

Apple's walled-garden approach to iOS does have some advantages. I found refurbished ones on eBay and elsewhere for $170. Google has wowed in the past with the quality of its camera, as well as its sleek version of the Android operating system. Not just considering that iPhone XS and iPhone X are the same size, dimensionally, but also because Apple explicitly stated that iPhone XS is able to provide even more usage time (up to an additional 30 minutes) in comparison to iPhone X.

The Watch also comes in a range of colour schemes. Brand new. You'll get Face ID, dual back cameras, portrait mode and fun dancing-poop Animojis. This shows just how expensive the iPhone XS really is in a country like India.
