After her husband's derogatory comment, Melania Trump visits Africa

It's also unusual that we're somehow supposed to believe that someone complicit in Trump's baleful treatment of immigrant children in the United States would care about African children. Check it out below to hear what folks from Ghana, Egypt and Kenya had to say.

Melania Trump has arrived in Ghana to open her first major solo worldwide trip as USA first lady.

Mrs. Trump also cradled an infant and declared the baby a "beautiful boy" as she handed him back to his mother.

"We expect that the visit will also aid us in the various efforts that we are making to promote a number of tourism sites in the country".

First lady Melania Trump is greeted by Ghana's first lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo as she arrives at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana.

The "Be Best" initiative was launched earlier this year to focus on overall child well-being with an emphasis on opioid addiction and online behaviour.

President Donald Trump has not visited Africa since taking office in 2017 but he has reportedly said immigrants from Africa came from "shithole countries".

It is her first worldwide trip without her husband Donald Trump who has yet to visit the continent nearly two years into his mandate.

She arrived in the West African nation of Ghana after an overnight flight from Washington and quickly made her way to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
