John Oliver ROASTS WWE Over Relationship With Saudi Arabian Government

If wrestlers with the WWE are indeed expressing "discomfort" with plans to perform in Saudi Arabia next month, as an anonymous-sourced Sports Illustrated article says today, last night's excoriating report by HBO's John Oliver could only have pumped them up even more.

Tonight's episode of WWE Raw will see the build for both WWE Evolution and WWE Crown Jewel continue with more World Cup qualifying matches set.

WWE is being urged to reconsider holding an event in Saudi Arabia, following the disappearance of a Saudi journalist who had been critical of the country's government.

As of right now, Crown Jewel is still scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia on November 2nd.

John Oliver tore into President Donald Trump on Sunday for failing to take action against Saudi Arabia over the alleged assassination of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

But the event has been placed into jeopardy due to recent current affairs in the Kingdom, which could mean a postponement or cancellation of the pay-per-view, although WWE's only words at this point have been to say that they are "monitoring the situation".

They became the target of a blistering, 18-minute report on "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" this past Sunday - which also covered the ongoing political tensions between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Khashoggi situation. We reported on Friday that several Superstars were unhappy with the situation, and other sites released similar reports later that day and over the weekend.

"I'd hope that they would be rethinking their relationship with the kingdom, especially with respect to events coming up in the next weeks like [WWE Crown Jewel]", Senator Murphy (D-CT) said.
