Turkey wants to know where Khashoggi's body is - justice minister

The statement follows weeks of media reports about the murder at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

The Turkish prosecutor's office says it was "obliged" to reveal the details after the talks with their Saudi counterpart produced "no concrete results". Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had urged Saudi Arabia to disclose the facts behind the brutal murder including who ordered Khashoggi's murder and the location of his body.

A statement from chief Istanbul prosecutor Irfan Fidan's office added that Khashoggi's body was dismembered and disposed of.

The statement, which was distributed to Turkish news channels and read out by reporters on live television, said that Khashoggi was strangled October 2 and his body dismembered and completely destroyed.

"We want to know where the body [of Khashoggi] is, we want that our authorities receive information about who the local collaborators are", Çelik said.

"It's an terrible thing that took place", Pompeo told conservative talk show host Brian Kilmeade.

The United Nations' commissioner for human rights called Tuesday for an independent and impartial investigation into the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Last week Mojeb contradicted previous Saudi statements, saying Khashoggi's killing was premeditated.

Following the worldwide outrage over the macabre circumstances on Jamal Khashoggi's case, the Saudi public prosecutor reversed its statement and declared that the killing was premeditated.

Switzerland halted weapons exports to Saudi Arabia in 2009, with the exception of spare weapons parts, as well as munitions for air-defence systems and firearms for private use.

"The Saudi officials seemed primarily interested in finding out what evidence the Turkish authorities had against the perpetrators", the official told AFP on the condition of anonymity. His Turkish fiancee was waiting for him outside.

Saudi Arabia's attorney general admitted Thursday that evidence shared by Turkish officials suggests that Khashoggi's killing was "premeditated".

As a Saudi dissident, Khashoggi was concerned he might be arrested for his work.

"Because the chief prosecutor is working to save crown prince by covering up the investigation rather than shed light on the murder".
