Trump slams CNN's Jim Acosta in explosive press briefing

As I told the officer, I don't blame him.

Trump leaned into the microphone and said, "Here we go"? seemingly relishing the confrontation.

The president confronted Acosta in a testy exchange after the CNN White House reporter field Trump with questions about the migrant caravan and Russian Federation investigation. "Because we have hundreds of companies moving in".

"Well, I'm not a big fan of yours either", Trump quipped, adding, "You aren't the best".

Acosta: "Why did you characterise it as such?"

Are you freaking kidding me?

"No, not at all".

They began sparring after Acosta asked Trump about the caravan of migrants heading from Latin America to the southern United States border.

"Just sit down", Trump said.

"They are not only unsafe, they are disturbingly un-American", CNN tweeted after the exchange.

It is unclear whether Acosta will be turned away again on Thursday. "That's not an invasion".

Acosta told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wednesday that he did not "put my hands on her or touch her as they're alleging".

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said. You shouldn't be working for CNN.

And CNN has slammed the White House for its actions.

Mr Acosta is seen trying to keep hold of the microphone while Trump's aide makes three unsuccessful attempts to take it from him. Trump shouted him down.

The White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, shared the video on Twitter on Wednesday night, saying: "We stand by our decision to revoke this individual's hard pass".

Sanders tweeted that the White House would "never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job". This conduct is absolutely unacceptable.

The White House's treatment of Acosta drew wide rebuke from press freedom and journalism organizations.

Acosta was banned from the White House until further notice on Wednesday, much to the dismay of many celebrities.

Former president of the White House Correspondents Association, Jeff Mason, refuted the White House accusation that Acosta placed his hand on a female White House intern.

The edited version has been shared by White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders.

However, Mr Acosta refused to give it up as he attempted to ask the president a further question. He said, "I can do something fantastic, and they make it look not good". Now, is it appropriate for the president, in taking questions and answers to say that's enough and to decline to other questions?

Acosta joined a room of other journalists in questioning the president after the mid-term elections, and the topic of immigration came up.

Sanders did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Dot.
