Rajinikanth flays AIADMK for protest against film 'Sarkar'

AR Murugadoss moved the Madras High Court on Friday which has given him protection from arrest till November 27.

The film with Vijay and Keerthi Suresh in the lead roles, was directed by AR Murugadoss and the music was set to tune by Oscar victor AR Rahman.

With a total earning of Rs 47.85 crore on the day of its release, Vijay's Sarkar broke multiple records such the highest opener in Chennai, the highest opening in all of Kerala, highest opening for a Tamil film in Karnataka, Australia and the UK.

In the meanwhile, actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar - who plays the role of Komalavalli in the film - also took to Twitter to share her opinion. If they (the makers) remove these scenes, then it is good.

Counsel for the petitioner contended that the protests by the AIADMK workers against the film which had been certified by the Censor Board, was unlawful.

Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan passed the interim order on the anticipatory bail petition filed by Mr Murugadoss, who apprehended arrest over complaints filed in connection with the "objectionable" scenes. "So the issue has come to an end". Many AIADMK ministers and party cadres were visibly unhappy with certain scenes in the film as they felt that the film was an attack on the former chief minister, J Jayalalithaa.

"We have nothing to do with the film or Vijay", Raju said describing the star as a "dear friend". Shanmugam compared the scenes (burning of freebies) in the movie with terrorist activity aimed at instigating violence against the state government.

The AIAMDK government under late J. Jayalalithaa offered free mixer, grinder, laptops and others to the poor. However, Sun Picture is yet to make an official statement regarding the same.
