Dez Bryant Gets His First Practice in with Saints

"We are aware of this situation and have been in touch with the authorities, but have nothing more on it at this time", the Bengals said in a statement to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The New Orleans Saints wasted no time getting former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant in and practicing with the team. "Not taking away from anybody else, but you got a guy like Drew Brees, you've got a guy like Michael Thomas, [Ben] Watson, Alvin Kamara, [Mark] Ingram".

And any doubts about Bryant fitting into the locker room were addressed as well. "You can ask my teammates - my ex-teammates - how I am", Bryant said. "I've just asked him a lot of questions and it's just cool to play with a guy like that".

"He was definitely one of those guys that you have to watch if you play the receiver position", Thomas said. It's like family. Every locker room that I've been in from middle school, high school, college to the pros, it's always been like a family.

Thomas said he was picking Bryant's brain on Thursday - just as Bryant was surely doing the same with Thomas as he gets acclimated to a new offense.

Payton wasn't having it. Earlier in the week, the Saints made a decision to bring in a handful of veteran wide receivers that were available in an attempt to add some depth to their roster.

METAIRIE, La. - Dez Bryant said he'll leave it up to Sean Payton whether he plays on Sunday.

But Payton added, "we felt like he did a number of things that we liked in the workout". Meredith had zero targets in the last three games for the Saints. I would be excited, too. I'll get to see all the Cowboys fans.

"It was good", Bryant said of his first practice. You know I still love those guys. "But I'm here on a new chapter".
