Philadelphia 76ers: 3 things to watch when Jimmy Butler makes debut

Aside from their inconsistent play, the other main storyline surrounding the Heat in the early going has been their pursuit of Jimmy Butler. Miami had one of the most promising offers before Houston offered four first-round picks for Butler's services. "I think I'm an incredible human being, teammate, and I will show that to the guys here".

In the meantime, the Sixers will remain focused on the positives and will try to make Butler's transition to Philadelphia as quick and seamless as possible. I can deal with that, our organization can deal with that, our players can deal with that, because they want to win.

The two teams then went back-and-forth, setting up precisely the scenario Butler was brought to Philadelphia to solve: bringing the Sixers home in a late, close game.

Sixers general manager Elton Brand said he also checked on Butler's background and came away satisfied. "[The trade] was an easy call for me".

A pair of free throws by Magic center Nikola Vucevic with 5.3 seconds left officially iced the game, sending Philadelphia to a surprising defeat in Butler's first game with the franchise. With that in mind, general manager Elton Brand went out and acquired one of the top scorers in the National Basketball Association in Butler.

"I'm going to lock into it [the playbook] and figure it all out", Butler said post-game of the confusion.

He talked about winning a championship and what it would mean to him. Butler's offensive rating this season of 122 would easily be the best on the Sixers this year, with the current highest being Embiid's 114.

"We hope he sees a fit here".

Undoubtedly, one of the major storylines of tonight's game between the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers will be the return of a key, two-way player expected to have a major impact on his squad going forward this season.

"I'm looking forward to playing alongside him and learning from him". But, to me, we've made really good strides in these 13 days and we're on the right track.
