Marc Short: Ivanka's Use of Private Emails 'Hypocritical'

Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Dan Scavino and Senior Advisor Ivanka Trump watch as US President Donald Trump holds a campaign rally on the eve of the US mid-term elections in Cleveland, Ohio, November 5, 2018.

The Washington Post was the first to report that the First Daughter had sent hundreds of government emails in 2017 using a private email account she shared with husband Jared Kushner. He also said Ivanka Trump did not set up a private server for the account, which he said was "never transferred or housed at Trump Organization". The White House investigated her email usage on Monday, and it was found that she had emailed Cabinet officials, White House aides, and assistants from the private email instead of an official one.

"While transitioning into government, after she was given an official account but until the White House provided her the same guidance they had given others who started before she did, Ivanka Trump sometimes used her personal account, nearly always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family", he said on Monday. "In both her use of personal email and post-discovery preservation efforts, Ms. Trump appears to have done exactly what Secretary Clinton did - conduct over which President Trump and many members of Congress regularly lambasted Secretary Clinton and which, they asserted, demonstrated her unfitness for office". They weren't deleted like Hillary Clinton", Trump said, adding: "What Ivanka did, it's all in the presidential records.

A public official is said to have conducted government business via private email.

Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson, a Republican, said he would also examine whether the law had been broken. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., who is expected to lead the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform next year, said on Tuesday that he planned to investigate the matter, and the outgoing chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., asked for details about the review's findings.

Hillary Clinton has to be somewhere laughing right now. "They weren't classified like Hillary Clinton". He did not say which congressional leaders were briefed.

"There's the obvious hypocrisy that her father ran on the misuse of personal email as a central tenet of his campaign", the Post quoted Austin Evers, executive director of the liberal watchdog group American Oversight.

'You can't make this stuff up, ' tweeted Havard constitutional law professor, Laurence Tribe, 'Not after that gang did the "Lock Her Up!" chant against Hillary for two solid years so Ivanka could become First Daughter. "When she entered the government, she was given a government email account for official use".

"Accordingly, there is reason to doubt the efficacy of the White House's efforts".

The wave of controversy around Ivanka Trump's emails started earlier in November when USA media citing sources in Trump's administration reported about the president's daughter using a personal email account shared with her husband Jared Kushner, to communicate with the administration.

Peter Mirijanian says, "While transitioning into government".
