California farm recalls cauliflower distributed in Arizona over E. coli fears

A California farm linked to an outbreak of E.coli on romaine lettuce is recalling more leafy products and cauliflower, at least some of which was shipped to IL.

The farm issued a news release on December 13, saying it was recalling the cauliflower "out of an abundance of caution" and that there had been no reports of illness and so far none of the newly recalled products have been contaminated.

The company said none of the recalled products have tested positive for E. coli, but the company was issuing the voluntary recall in cooperation with the FDA out of an abundance of caution. Farming, Inc.'s products.

Another recall has hit the produce section of grocers nationwide.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling certain USA cauliflower, red and green lettuce products sold across the country including in Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. The filtered, treated water has tested negative for the bacteria. "Filtered and treated water from the reservoir may have come in contact with the produce after it was harvested". The lettuces were sold to wholesales in California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Canada. The cauliflower was sold to wholesalers in IL and other states, however the lettuces were not distributed to wholesalers in IL. The red leaf lettuce was only distributed in Minnesota and Tijuana, Mexico.

The grocery store chain made the decision after being notified by their supply partner Adam Bros. Most strains are harmless, but some can cause people to fall ill and experience diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illness, pneumonia and more.

As of Thursday, 59 people in 15 states were sickened in the outbreak. Farming Inc. and were sold to consumers, retailers and restaurants in several provinces including Ontario and Quebec.
