LeBron James' consecutive games streak ends at 156

LeBron James' consecutive games streak ends at 156

James was injured halfway through the third quarter of the Lakers 127-101 blowout win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

It's easy to cite the fact that their two leaders, LeBron James and Rajon Rondo, were sidelined with injuries, causing the Lakers to lose focus once they pulled comfortably ahead.

LeBron James #23 of the Los Angeles Lakers looks on from the bench after he was hurt against the Golden State Warriors during the second half of their NBA Basketball game at ORACLE Arena on December 25, 2018 in Oakland, California.

"I will wait to hear back more from him and the doctors tomorrow", Walton said.

James has never had this severe of a groin injury in the past. James has displayed a tremendous capacity throughout his career to avoid extended absences with injury, but sources expected the Lakers and James will be careful not to risk further aggravation of the groin by returning too quickly. "James will be listed as day-to-day", a Lakers spokesperson said.

Los Angeles led 104-89 with 6:44 left following a dunk by Tyson Chandler, before Sacramento surged back. "If LeBron James is playing in that game it probably finishes a little differently".

"This is the first close game we've been in that he's not there", Walton said. "We've got to do a better job closing out games and just being composed".

James, who turns 34 on Sunday, is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists this season, his 16th in the National Basketball Association and first with the Lakers.
