Houston Mother Speaks Out After Daughter Killed Outside Walmart

A seven-year-old girl died Sunday after a man in a pickup truck sprayed bullets into a vehicle parked in a Houston-area Walmart.

30-year-old LaPorsha Washington was trying to move out of the Walmart parking lot with her four children in the auto around 7 a.m. when an unknown assailant in a red truck pulled up and fired shots into Washington's vehicle. The mother was transported with an injury to her arm to an area hospital, Razo said. He says three other girls ages 15 and younger were also in the vehicle at the time.

Two teenagers and a younger girl were also in Washington's auto, Gonzalez said. Police say they are looking for an armed and unsafe suspect, described as a bearded white man in his 40s who was wearing a red hoodie. Investigators describe him as a white male in his 40s with a beard and driving a red pickup truck.

The sheriff's office released a photo of the pickup truck from a surveillance video taken before the shooting.

"So senseless. It's never easy, and extra hard during the holiday season", Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted on December 30. "A total of 5 occupants in the auto witnessed this child, their loved one, shot and killed before their eyes".

'Because we will be looking for you. "So senseless. It's never easy, and extra hard during the holiday season", Gonzalez tweeted.

Authorities are asking Houston-area residents to review video surveillance for any images of a pickup whose driver they say fired into a auto carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother. "They lost their sister".

"We're going to use all resources available to bring this killer to justice", police spokesman Jesse Razo said, Local12 reported. The vehicle also sped away before it came to a stop and the woman called 911, authorities said.
