Justin Fields Is Moving On

Ohio State won both contests.

Fields entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal late last month, clearing the first hurdle towards his exit from Georgia.

Riding a seven-game winning streak, No. 8 Michigan State came to Columbus to play No. 14 Ohio State with captain and scoring machine Joshua Langford sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury. He finished the season with 42 rushes for 266 yards and four rushing touchdowns and threw for 328 yards and four passing touchdowns.

The transfer comes after Fields failed to unseat sophomore Jake Fromm as Georgia's starting quarterback.

According to a report by Lettermen Row, Fields is "expected on campus with the Buckeyes later in the afternoon and set to move in this weekend ahead of the resumption of classes, clearing the way for him to participate in the offseason program and spring practice". Given the fact Fields is trying to play immediately, he wouldn't go to OSU if Haskins were returning. Rated as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, the Las Vegas Bishop Gorman standout put up huge numbers in high school.

It's never easy to replace a coaching legend but Ohio State's Ryan Day is stepping into a good situation which appears to be getting even sweeter by the day.

Many have speculated that Fields will use the remarks made by former UGA baseball player Adam Sasser as a reason to justify immediate eligibility.

Ohio State and Georgia are not scheduled to play each other at any point in the near future, though there is always the chance the two teams could meet in the College Football Playoff.

Georgia opens the 2019 season against Vanderbilt on August 31.
