Rumour: Apex Legends Map Leaked Ahead of Reveal Stream

From what I've been able to play, Apex Legends is a fun, intriguing battle royale game that brings Titanfall's mechanics to a new genre of gameplay.

With Apex Legends launching as a free-to-play title on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, many players are curious if the first-person shooter set in the Titanfall universe will ever see a third-person point of view.

Whether you're a battle royale vet looking for something new or just want to see what the hype is all about, here's everything you need to know about Apex Legends. Although the disappointing news for some regarding the franchise is the rumor that Titanfall 3 isn't now in development, and this game is what we're getting instead (and it doesn't allow you to get into any actual mechs - certainly a sticking point for some). Going free-to-play wasn't enough, though, and EA and Sony made the game even more accessible by removing the PS Plus barrier for Sony's 90 million strong install base.

Respawn invested a lot into the launch of Apex Legends, partnering with top content creators on Twitch to stream the game and increase its visibility on its first day. Apex Legends also has seasons, and the battle passes unlock exclusive vanity items for these timed events. The game's description reads "Explore a growing roster of diverse characters and experience intense tactical squad play in a bold, new evolution of battle royale", so we can assume that the game will feature continued support and updates with more characters in the future.

This afternoon, Zampella took to Twitter to talk about the exciting plans that Respawn has moving forward for Apex Legends.

Word quickly spread of both Apex Legends' release and its quality. It's clear that, to avoid the inevitable negative preconceptions that would follow its announcement (especially if it's true that the game has effectively replaced a potential Titanfall 3), a surprise release that let the title speak for itself was the correct way to go. Currently, eight of these characters are available out of which two are locked and can be purchased with in-game currency.

Respawn has said the number of total players may increase over time.
