Meghan spotted at gala in first appearance since dad revealed 'devastating' letter

An unlikely confidant has leapt to the defence of embattled royal Meghan Markle.

Although the racist undertones that come into play with the Duchess of Sussex didn't exist in this story - and neither did social media - there was a very real sense of bullying by the press and constant rumors of feuding between Sarah, Duchess of York, and Diana, Princess of Wales.

"Either you know or be [quiet]", she said.

Meghan and Harry's outing comes just one day after the expectant royal was defended by George Clooney, who attended the pair's wedding past year. The foursome have since reportedly holidayed with each other at the Clooneys' luxurious Lake Como villa in Italy.

"Everywhere they follow Meghan Markle, she is persecuted, vilified".

Clooney, 57, said history was repeating itself in the case of Meghan and Diana, warning "we've seen how that ends".

"She's getting a raw deal there, it's irresponsible".

The Duchess of Sussex was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

In it, Meghan wrote how her father had broken her heart "into a million pieces", and accused him of manufacturing "such unnecessary and unwarranted pain".

They also claimed Thomas had "never called, never texted", saying this has been "super painful" for the soon-to-be mother.

The letter, handwritten by his daughter past year, showed Meghan pleading with Thomas to stop talking to the press.

They were also the first people to reveal the existence of the letter and said Meghan wrote it in an attempt to mend their rift privately.

In the latest episode of The Windsors, we explore how a girl from a tiny village wound up as the future King's consort, and the challenges she faced to get there.

Meghan Markle became a member of the Royal Family when she married Prince Harry on May 19, 2018.

Her friends added that they anxious what the stress of such negative attention is doing to her and the baby: "It's wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they're pregnant".

"While the goal of Meghan's letter was very much to fix the relationship with her father, she knew in her heart of hearts that this was going to be released to the papers", he said.
