Anthem is reportedly crashing and bricking PS4 consoles

To be specific, some players have had issues whereby the game not only crashes, but completely shuts down their system. One particular concerning report comes from a user that was playing on a Call of Duty: WWII limited edition PS4 and his console is completed bricked, meaning it is completely unplayable. Some players have reported success in receiving refunds for that version of the game, despite Sony's typically restrictive refund policy. Crashing instances seem random and can occur during matchmaking, in-game missions, quitting the application from the PS menu, or even during loading screens. The combat is stellar, I love the characters and while the story is definitely macho bromance with just the four guys in the party, it's a touching one of true friendship between these four dudes.

The game received worse reviews than Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare's previous game that was also plagued with issues at launch, and Anthem is unfortunately not faring any better on the technical front.

Players who've requested a refund due the issue have reportedly done so with varying degrees of success.

Anthem is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. One user report described it as if they had pulled the plug of the console from an electrical outlet. My Xbox is usually on "sleep" mode as in, when it's off, it's not really off as you can boot it quickly to get back to what you were playing. Surprisingly, it looks like Sony is complying with their requests.

Some "Anthem" players on PlayStation 4 are encountering a major bug that both crashes the game and outright shuts down their PS4.

However, Bioware engineers have responded to complaints in the game's official forums, where they said they were "hard at work" on a fix. Refunds have since been verified by other players and publications. When a PlayStation 4 restarts after a hard crash, players are prompted to report crash data and the system runs a check on its drives.
