YouTube launches its music streaming service

The new music streaming service offers music videos, official albums, singles, remixes, live performances, and covers from YouTube. The latest music streaming application is available on Google Play Store and Apple's App Store. Therefore for us, with the launch of YouTube Music, all the emphasis is on the familiar and to make every user experience richer as they start using the service.

Users can also subscribe to YouTube Music Premium for an ad-free experience and additional features such as background play support for audio and video content, offline download, and access to all YouTube Originals such as Cobra Kai and BTS: Burn The Stage. At Rs 129 per month for both Google Play Music and YouTube Music PLUS ad-free YouTube, the new YouTube Premium does look like a compelling offer. Later on, you'll be charged R71.99 ($5.02) per month or R109.99 (S7.67) per month for a family plan. Just the YouTube Music Premium is available at a starting rental of Rs 99.

Earlier called YouTube Red, the premium service offers ad-free playback and access to YouTube's cache or original shows and movies. This is available on a free three-month trial.

YouTube Music is available for free in supported countries but you do get interrupted by ads. "It's also where over 2 million artists come to share their voices and art with the world", said Google in a release.

Over the a year ago artists like Guru Randhawa, Badshah, Arijit Singh and Neha Kakkar have reached the YouTube music country charts in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, along with the global chart.

After downloading and installing, Google will ask you to sign in with an email ID.

YouTube Music offers several features, including a home screen that "dynamically adapts to provide recommendations based on what you've played before, where you are and what you're doing".

To personalise the experience, Google asks you to pick some artists you like - similar to how you personalise the experience on Spotify, JioSaavn or any other top music streaming application.

According to YouTube, YouTube Music will be available both as a standalone mobile app and a Web-based desktop interface that is designed for music streaming. You can however change this in Settings anytime you want.

Thousands of playlists across genres, moods, activities or languages, including those titled "Bollywood Hotlist, ' 'Featuring Drake, ' 'Upbeat Hindi Retro, ' 'Cosmic Indie Pop, ' 'Kollywood Hotlist" and 'Tollywood Hotlist'. To be sure, Hungama has been offering music videos on its app for a while and Gaana, which is now offering embedded YouTube videos on its app, is also planning to launch its own video library, according to a report by online publication, The Ken.
